Many electric vehicle manufacturers such as Tesla are using cylindrical batteries, which are standardized and have great advantages in mass production and cost reduction. Each Tesla Model 3 uses approximately 4,000 cylindrical batteries.
In this case, LG Energy Solutions and Samsung SDI are also working on the next generation of cylindrical batteries. LG Energy Solutions is currently supplying batteries for Tesla vehicles made in China. The company hinted in October last year that it was developing a cylindrical battery with a diameter of 46 mm and a length of 80 mm.
